Patient Safety Conversations | Falls Prevention Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center

Patient safety is top priority at Johns Hopkins Medicine and its Bayview Medical Center—where Stacey Schaab, a performance improvement coordinator, and Linda Goodman, a professional development specialist—identified a safety problem: patient falls. A top concern for hospitals nationwide, 7 percent of all falls result in injuries to the patient—including fractures or head injuries—and requires intervention. Together, Stacey and Linda developed a prevention program aimed at reducing the number of falls at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
